SMS Terms (Transactional Text Messaging)

Last updated: July 21, 2026

These SMS Terms describe the transactional text messaging program operated by Handshake App Inc. (“Handshake,” “we,” “us”). They apply to SMS sent from our platform / system numbers (including US A2P 10DLC and Canadian long codes), separate from iMessage conversations on our Sendblue line where applicable.

Program description

Handshake sends transactional SMS related to Julia and the Handshake product. This program is not used for marketing promotions, advertising blasts, or unsolicited campaigns.

Examples of messages:

Who this is for

How verbal opt-in works

  1. During a live call with Julia, you explicitly ask for specific information to be sent by SMS.
  2. Julia repeats and confirms the destination mobile number (caller ID or a number you provide).
  3. Before sending, Julia states:
Handshake App Inc. can text the requested information to this number. Message frequency varies and is event-driven, usually one message per request. Message and data rates may apply. Reply STOP to opt out or HELP for help. Do you agree?
  4. Only after you verbally answer yes does Handshake send the requested transactional SMS.

Consent is limited to the information requested during that call. This program does not use a website form, SMS keyword, paper form, or QR code for opt-in. We do not treat verbal consent as consent for marketing or recurring SMS.

Message frequency

Message frequency varies and is event-driven. You typically receive a small number of messages per call request (often one message). You will not receive recurring promotional campaigns under this program.

Cost

Message and data rates may apply from your mobile carrier. Handshake does not add a separate per-segment cash surcharge beyond your plan’s credit usage; your carrier may still charge for SMS. Sending or receiving SMS through Handshake may consume credits under your Handshake plan, as described in your account or on our pricing materials.

Mobile number sharing

We do not share, sell, or provide your mobile phone number, messaging opt-in data, or messaging consent to third parties or affiliates for marketing or promotional purposes. We may use processors (e.g. Twilio) solely to deliver messages and operate the service.
