Handshake App Inc. (“Handshake,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) operates Julia and related Handshake services (the “Services”), including voice, web workspace, iMessage, and SMS. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and share personal information.
This policy applies when you interact with us directly as a Handshake customer or user of our product surfaces (including beta.handshake.app), and when we process information in connection with SMS described in our SMS Terms.
If you only interact with Julia because a business customer of Handshake enabled our AI receptionist for their business, that business customer’s privacy practices also apply to how they collect and share your information with us. This policy still describes how Handshake handles that information as a service provider.
Information we collect
- Account and contact: name, email, mobile/phone number, business details, and workspace profile data you provide.
- Communications: call recordings/transcripts where enabled, iMessage/SMS content, chat messages, and support requests.
- Connected services (optional): if you connect Google or other integrations, we access data as described at connect time (e.g. read-only Gmail/Calendar) to provide features you request.
- Usage and device: logs, token/credit usage, IP address, and approximate location derived from phone number or address you provide, for reliability, security, and billing.
How we use information
We use personal information to:
- Provide, operate, secure, and improve the Services (including Julia voice, chat, iMessage, and SMS);
- Send transactional SMS you explicitly request during a live call, as described in our SMS Terms;
- Authenticate users, prevent abuse, and comply with law;
- Bill and provide customer support.
We do not sell your personal information.
Text messaging and mobile numbers
If you request a text during a phone call with Julia and verbally confirm the destination mobile number, we use that number only to deliver the specific transactional information you requested.
We do not share, sell, or provide mobile phone numbers, messaging opt-in data, or messaging consent to third parties or affiliates for marketing or promotional purposes. Message frequency varies. Message and data rates may apply. Reply STOP to opt out of SMS from Handshake App Inc. Reply HELP for help. Handshake does not add a separate per-segment cash surcharge beyond your plan’s credit usage; your carrier may still charge for SMS. Sending or receiving SMS through Handshake may consume credits under your Handshake plan. See our SMS Terms for program details.
We use messaging infrastructure providers (such as Twilio and, for iMessage, Sendblue) as processors to deliver messages. Those providers process message content and phone numbers to provide delivery services to us.
How we share information
- Service providers / processors that help us host, message, authenticate, analyze, or support the Services (under contractual obligations);
- Business customers, when you interact with their enabled AI receptionist—call/SMS content and related metadata may be available to that business as part of the Services;
- Legal and safety: if required by law or to protect rights, safety, and security;
- Business transfers: in connection with a merger, financing, or sale of assets, subject to appropriate protections.
Google user data
Where Google APIs are used, Handshake’s use of Google user data complies with the Google API Services User Data Policy, including Limited Use. Gmail and Calendar data is used only to provide features you request and is not used for advertising.
Retention and deletion
We retain information as needed to provide the Services, meet legal obligations, resolve disputes, and enforce agreements. You may disconnect integrations from your workspace. You may request deletion of your account and associated data by contacting us (subject to legal retention requirements).

Depending on your location, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, or obtain more information about your personal information. Contact us using the details below. We may need to verify your identity before responding.
